Mountlake Terrace, WA – MILA, Inc.,
the wholesale mortgage banking company today announced its sponsorship
of the Edmonds School District’s Challenge Program. Earlier this
month, MILA donated $2,000 to the program. The Challenge Program is
designed to help educationally gifted children within the district
succeed in their education.
MILA’s contribution will go towards
the purchase of educational materials including books, computers,
field trips, projectors, scientific
calculators and ongoing professional development for educators who
work with Challenge students.
MILA’s donation to the Challenge
Program will provide local children with access and training to increased
educational opportunities to prepare
them for tomorrow’s careers,” said Layne Sapp, MILA CEO. “MILA
believes in supporting these invaluable causes to help transform
communities and help children achieve their potential.”
Approximately
250 children within a variety of grade levels within the Edmonds
School District are enrolled in the Challenge Program.
Since
its inception in the late 80’s, the program uses the National
Association for Gifted Children Standards to develop its curriculum,
instruction
and pacing as it is different than other classrooms. The Challenge
Program is hosted at Terrace Park elementary school in Mountlake
Terrace, Washington.
“As a school administrator for more than 25 years, I’ve
found that supporting the needs of these children can’t happen
without the contributions from local companies like MILA, Inc.,” said
Nancy Cartwright, Edmonds School District, program manager, K-12
Highly Capable
Programs.
MILA is dedicated to strengthening local communities in
Snohomish and King Counties by supporting innovative non-profit organizations
that
align with MILA’s core principles. MILA targets local organizations
supporting children’s growth and development as well as charities
that offer the opportunity of homeownership to all types of families.
“This is a terrific opportunity for my daughter,” said
Charlene Blankenship, a local real estate agent who contributes $500
per
closing transaction for any lead she is given by local parents. “Education
is taught in a different way that challenges the student to reach
a level they’ve never had to perform at before.”
Additionally, MILA
offers a broad range of alternative mortgage-lending products in 26 states
and is one of the fastest growing mortgage
lenders in the nation. In addition to helping brokers manage
their loans, MILA’s
