MOUNTLAKE TERRACE , Wash. - November 6, 2006 - MILA today announced the launch of its latest broker education tool, podcasting. Housed on the e-commerce lender's newly redesigned website at http://www.mila.com/broker_resources/pod_cast.html, and also downloadable from iTunes, the first podcast features an in-depth look at the recent trend of investment property and specifically how brokers can best tap into the investment borrower market.
"This is a challenging time for all mortgage professionals," explained Layne Sapp, founder and CEO of MILA. "We are committed to providing our brokers with the latest tools and information to help them achieve success regardless of market conditions."
MILA's podcast is called Broker Break and has been designed as a 15-minute interview with leaders and experts from a variety of backgrounds who have advice for today's brokers. The inaugural podcast was inspired by the recent National Association of Realtors study that showed a full 40 percent of home loans last year were second homes. This fact flies in the face of traditional perceptions that the investment borrower is unusually wealthy as the study also shows the average annual income for these borrowers to be under $100,000.
Featuring Paul Galasso, a veteran investor and Chairman of the Puget Sound Real Estate Investment Association in Seattle , Washington , MILA's first Broker Break provides substantive advice for brokers who may be interested in tapping into this emerging market. It is a niche that continues to grow particularly with boomers as they look to rental and vacation properties to supplement their retirement income.
Some of the advice that brokers will hear on this podcast includes:
- There are riches in niches - how to identify investor-types and become the expert in meeting their needs
- Shared traits - what real estate investors have in common and what they look for in a broker
- Meeting the right investor - what organizations and events brokers can join to meet potential real estate investors
Brokers who download the podcast will also be entered to win a new iPod nano. More will be awarded as MILA produces new podcasts and solicits feedback and ideas from its listeners.
"We are excited to offer this new tool to our brokers," added Sapp. "MILA has built its business around the idea of empowering brokers to achieve success in any market. By adding informative podcasts to our existing marketing tools and resources such as sales flyers and book recommendations already on our website, we hope to continue that tradition."
MILA is the only full-spectrum e-commerce wholesale lender in the nation offering Non-prime, Alt-A and Conforming products through a single automated decisioning and loan management portal, AccessPoint.
